Seshadri Swamigal was born in the year 1870 at Kancheepuram. It is believed that he went to Thriuvannamalai when he was in his teens. He was an ardent devotee of Goddess Shakthi.

Seshadri came to Tiruvannamalai quite earlier to Ramana maharishi. The people around this holy temple city Tiruvannamalai would often refer to Seshadri Mahan as the elder brother of Ramana Maharishi.
